The Old Chapel Textile Centre in Newbury, home of the National Needlework Archive, offer courses, workshops and exhibitions in sewing, haberdashery,  needlecraft, textiles, embroidery, cross stitch, quilting and textile art. Our shop carries an extensive range of all needlework and sewing products including fabric, threads, wool, zips and patterns. We have an archive of historic textiles and patterns and are home to The Country Wife mural.

Stitched Heritage

The Stitched Heritage programme records all types and ages of community textiles in public places such as village halls, churches, cinemas, town halls, community centres, museums and offices.

These venues are very diverse and are usually great places for community textiles to be housed. For researchers, however, it is sometimes difficult to know where these textiles are located. The NNA keeps records of these pieces to make information about them more accessible for study, and also to help preserve the textiles themselves in the long term.

Contact the NNA for details on recording community textiles in your area.
